About the studio
Root Division is a San Francisco visual arts nonprofit founded in 2002 that runs an incubator Studios Program, exhibitions, adult art classes and free youth art classes. Emerging artists rent discounted studios in exchange for volunteering, mostly by teaching free classes for local youth. The public takes affordable adult classes taught by professional artists and visits the gallery and events; Root Division membership supports the organization rather than giving studio access.
