About the studio
The Weston Collective is a Monterey County nonprofit founded in 2004 that teaches and exhibits film and digital photography, mainly for youth, and runs the annual Weston Scholarship. Its satellite community darkroom in Seaside has seven enlargers, two eight-foot sinks, stocked Arista chemistry, drying racks and a separate developing room, plus a studio space with three dry mount presses, a print cutter and a negative scanner. Experienced adults rent darkroom time by the hour by appointment or on community darkroom days; one-on-one tutorials are offered for those who need instruction.
